Thedford Fire Hall Arboretum
Only a short walk north of the NRD office, you will find the Thedford Rural Fire Hall surrounded with various trees and shrubs. As you walk up the concrete path you will pass a pollinator habitat with over 50 species of pollinator plants. Travelling further up the path you will encounter more species such as the Kentucky Coffeetree, Prairiefire Crabapple, Ohio Buckeyes, and Rocky Mountain Junipers. Rounding the corner you will follow the path leading you past a wide variety of foliage such as elderberries, wood rose, russian sage, aspens, chinkapins and many more. This space is available to the community to have a peaceful walk in nature, schools and organizations to help youth with plant identification, and also serves the purpose for landowners to have a chance to see how certain species thrive in our environment.
Wondering how you can help? Donations will be used to supply birdhouses, bat houses, bird feeders, etc. You may also donate in honor or memory of someone in which we would identify the individual with an engraved sign to be displayed in the arboretum. For more
